Melbourne has much nicer suburbs too - South Yarra, Toorak, Brighton. Otherwise every box tick for Sydney. The real benefactor of the weather though is the beautiful gardens with autumnal colours and evergreen trees creating an impressive visual display.... with the rise of the population which can making driving or catching a bus a bit of a nightmare but the city's saving grace is its railway and ferry system which is based in Darling Harbour and Circular Quay. Sydney on the other hand has enjoyed pleasant temps ranging below 30C. For the coolest bars to visit, make your way to the Yarra River where plenty of rooftop bars can be found, offering superb views of the city alongside pleasant live music entertainment.

I've called London, Sydney, Melbourne and (for 7 awesome weeks) New York home – but don’t ask me to rank them. What is depressing is watching the national weather and seeing Sydney basking in 22 degree heat in August. If I use Brisbane as a base, then Sydney house prices were 27% higher and Melbourne’s just under 9% more expensive than where I chose to live. Can’t remember if we’ve discussed this but have you spent much time in Yarraville? An at least once a month occurance in Melbourne.
