I loved this book from the first word. Jay was convinced of his innocence and put his friends at great risk.
This is a ride with is filled with action, humor, and inside knowledge! Carl Weber is a New York Times and #1 Essence® bestselling novelist.Carl Weber is a New York Times and #1 Essence® bestselling novelist. They are all dealing with personal demons that threaten to sink them all. Four longtime male friends with a strong bond stick together through some pretty hopeless situations. What I love about this book is the ability of the author to use characters to flesh out the story. Kyle, Wil, Jay and Allen best friends always looking out for each other.Loved this book.
How did Kyle have a daughter named Kiki when I recall his daughters names as jewel, jade and willow.
It was a quick read.I belong to a club of readers and many of them were vouching for this book. I was thorouI received this novel as an ARC.
I had no idea he was a snake and wanted his wife out of the picture.I enjoyed this audible version of "Man on the Run" because both male actors were very expressive in voicing their characters. The ending took me by surprise but I'm sure the new man on the run will surfaces again.
I did not read Married Men prior to reading this book but it wasn't really needed to read this book.
The success of his backwoods noir Hill Girl (1951) allowed him to quit his job and write fulltime. Not any great literary success that Carl will get any awards for. I really enjoyed reading about the the four best friends from Married Men.
This is a novel about four best friends, that are more like brothers.
Incorrect Book The list contains an incorrect book (please specify the title of the book).
For ten years, he'… I was thoroughly entertained.
There are lots of sexy times between these men and their respective ladies and that could be a turn off to some readers. This story is told in alternating first person voice and it follows four main characters, Jay, Kyle, Wil, and Allen. I highly recommend this book…this was a great read in my opinion!I think 'Man on the Run' may be the 7th novel I've read by Carl Weber.
You don’t have to read long into the novel to understand this about the title.
Multiple crazies in the book will keep you guessing the whole time who is causing all the problems and snitching.
Be the first to ask a question about Man on the Run The story deals with brotherhood and REAL friendship; family is not always about being blood; fighting for what you believe in; the pride of a man and understanding that it’s not always a bad thing; and how criminalized behaviors can destroy not only your life but the lives of others around you. Some of the situations they find themselves drawn into are almost on the cusp of unrealistic but not so unbelievable that it stops you from becoming engrossed in the story.
His ride or die friends kept his secret and was willing to jump over a river bank for the sake of friendship. It doesn't pay to gold dig and use people to get what you want. Let us know what’s wrong with this preview of
More on that later. What a wild roller coaster ride! Originally published in 1958 I'm not sure how easy it is to track down? What I was little perplexed about was the way he choose to conclude the novel, but knowing the author, he is setting the scene for another great read. It seems Jay had spent ten years in jail on rape charges but escaped from prison. It was a great gathering to say the least2 stars bc the main characters in this book were so frustrating. But as usual it has his wonderful humor, issues that are quite believable and that many people can relate to. This is a story about what true brotherhood looks like.
We asked Alice Bolin, author of Dead Girls: Essays on Surviving an American Obsession, and journalist-turned-crime novelist Laura...Pursued by the police, a desperate man fights to stay free--and stay alivePursued by the police, a desperate man fights to stay free--and stay aliveMan on the Run was originally published in 1958.
So true fans will know the description is not correct because all through the book it says 10 years.
I just finished previous book with series and names are fresh in my mind. Jay has escaped custody and is now on the run.
Will they stay that way after everything that is happening?

A new book by longtime Q magazine contributing editor Tom Doyle about that turbulent period in the legendary rock star’s life, Man on the Run, catches him in mid-flight.”—Billboard “Man on the Run is a must for any rock fan.
The story has all the elements of a good read with drama, lies, murder, secrecy and a surprise turn of events. Some of the situations they find themselves drawn into are almost on the cusp of unrealistic but not so unbelievable that it stops you from becoming engrossed in the story. It involves an often- used pulp motif of a man on the run from the police for a murder he did not commit.
False accusations have to be proven wrong. The stories I've read are about simple people, families or friends that come together to aid in arduous situations. 10 years prior Jay is accused of raping his girlfriend and sentenced and sent to prison.
Many lessons can be learned from this five star read.
His accuser finally admitted she lied just to muck up his life and he was exonerated. by Gold Medal
He has a chance to be released on parole if he just admits to the crime.
True fans are very familiar with the Duncan family and the fact that there is a relation with one of the friend's from this book. Charles Williams (1909–1975) was one of the preeminent authors of American crime fiction. The story deals with brotherhood and REAL friendship; family is not always about being blood; fighting for what you believe in; the pride of a man and understanding that it’s not always a bad thing; and how criminalized behaviors can destroy not oThis was a well-written novel, which I didn’t expect anything less from Carl Weber. I chose this book for my bookclub not just because Carl Weber is my favorite author but the reviews were great.
So why the 2-star rating?
