And I took my dryer out there in California. They had a lead singer by the name of Archie Brownlee, he passed away in the '60s [1960s]. Education. Since high school, Moore has played with various bands, ensembles and groups. Marshall Thompson. Werthmann was also one of the drum line instructors for the Fox Valley Raiders Drum & Bugle Corps in the late 1970’s.
“I was excited when I first heard about the cruise.
And we had to--we went over to Cooper's. Don Cornelius was the one that actually started our career really moving by having me down to Channel 26 every day…I was at his show When he steps aboard the 2019 Soul Train Cruise, it will be like being back at WCIU in Chicago all over again surrounded by so many of his old friends.
Chicago soul vocalist and nephew of jazz drummer Marshall Thompson (2). But it disappears. So I went up there, got on the drums, played rehearsal perfect, no problems, no flaws, no nothing. McKinnie has been recognized by Atlanta’s Mayor Shirley Franklin for his contribution to Atlanta’s new anthem and has received an Honorary Doctorate degree from Atlanta’s Carver Bible College.
As a child, he played his snare drum on the corner of 47th Street and St. Lawrence Avenue, thus beginning a lifelong love of music. His partners in The Chi-Lites were his closest pals at school.

He persisted, landing a job in 1960 as the house drummer for the Regal Theater and even performing as backup for Gladys Knight in 1967. In February of 2004, the Chi-Lites received a Grammy Award for their work on Beyoncé Knowles' song "Crazy in Love," which won the Best R&B Song award.
