Setting up combos also fills characters’ “tension gauges”, which are used to launch flashy (but unfortunately unskippable) attacks that unlock based on the girls’ relationship with Luchs.Lord of Magna’s battle system seems pretty enjoyable on the surface, but tedium quickly kicks in. The game is mainly about positioning your characters to focus on one specific ennemi or do splash damage on minions depend of your strategy. Luchs is driven by a promise to keep the inn open for “family”, in spite of the island’s strict “no outsiders” policy and any common sense. You’d expect an inn to be full of guests but it hasn’t seen life outside of the innkeeper and his two best friends in ages.

The first thing I noticed immediately after I started playing Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven was the unique graphical style of the characters, and especially the graphical styles of the Maidens(if you decide to purchase this game for your 3DS, the Maidens are known by another name but that is all I will say so I do not ruin the plot of this game) and I have to note that Charlotte(the first Maiden you encounter) has the best graphical style in my opinion. So much more could have been added to the game, like time with the likeable characters (Bart too).
