Conversation Workshops General Guidelines

1. Who are these conversation workshops for?

These workshops are aimed at people who are learning the language (non-native speakers), and are looking to improve their speaking skills or maintain their fluency. Since the sessions are conducted entirely in the target language, some basic knowledge is required.

Note: If you are a complete beginner, please contact us to enquire about more suitable learning solutions.

2. How do I know which level I need to enroll in?

If you have not recently taken a language course, we invite you to have a look at the description of each language level – https://speaklive.ch/cefr/. We also recommend you taking the placement test: https://speaklive.ch/test-your-level/. This will help you determine where you stand. You will be able to change groups after your first session (ask your trainer for advice).

3. What is a workshop session like?

You take part in debates, games, role-plays, discuss news articles, videos, etc.

Sample topics: cultures and traditions – news/current events – sports and hobbies – technology – social networks – ecology/the environment – travel and holidays – cooking… all of your suggestions will be more than welcome!

Please note: The trainer will encourage self-correction, peer correction, and give feedback. They will facilitate and guide the discussions, provide useful vocabulary and will give punctual grammar explanations if they see fit. However, these workshops are conversational and focus on developing oral communication skills. If you wish to work on particular grammar skills, improve your writing, or focus on any specific personal objectives, contact us to find out more about our customized language courses.

4. What do I need to do if I cannot make a session?

When you purchase a pass, you are automatically enrolled in 10 consecutive sessions. Unattended sessions will not be refunded. Prepaid passes are non-refundable.

5. What happens if there are not enough participants?

A minimum of 4 participants is required for a course to take place. If a session is cancelled by the trainer, they will make up for it at the end of the course. Sessions are limited to 6 participants to allow everyone to speak as much as possible!

6. How can I register?

Complete the online registration form : https://speaklive.ch/workshop-registration

Based on availability, we will confirm your registration. If this is not a trial session, you will be requested to proceed with the payment of your pass in order to secure your place. (Online payment with a credit card or bank transfers accepted).
